A Young Woman’s Excessive and Abusive Drinking Leads To a DWI, Mental Health Issues, Depression, Time Behind Bars, and Marital Difficulties
Jesse had an exceptionally hard time maintaining a job. In truth, due to her slothfulness and lack of motivation, she was out of work far more often than she was employed with a job. And when she did get employment, she had an exceedingly hard time getting to work when her shift began, she usually got less than positive performance evaluations, and she called off sick so many times that she usually got fired just a few weeks after she began working. To no one’s disbelief, one of the consequences of Jesse’s shameful employment track record was the fact that she was without much money almost on a daily basis.
In spite of Jesse’s less than stellar work record and financial lack of attention, however, somehow she managed to drink in an excessive and hazardous manner almost everyday. Not surprisingly, her excessive and irresponsible drinking also resulted in more than a few marital problems through the years.
Based on her hazardous drinking, it came as no big surprise when Jesse got arrested for a third DUI. When she went to court, the judge explained to Jesse that her alcohol-related actions was deplorable and, consequently, he was going to sentence Jesse to serve twelve months locked up in jail.
Time In Jail To Reflect On The Demoralizing Results of Excessive and Irresponsible Drinking
During her time behind bars, Jesse was expected to learn more about alcohol facts, about the destructive effects of hazardous and excessive drinking, and she was expected to get alcohol counseling. The magistrate emphasized the fact that unless Jesse gets professional alcohol treatment and learns how to live a life of abstinence, she will more likely than not be spending a considerable amount of time in the county jail.
Jesse articulated that she grasped what the magistrate was uttering but she still proclaimed that placement in the local jail was not the most logical ruling. The judge disagreed and stated that it was his responsibility to keep alcohol dependent people off the streets who drink and drive and who get arrested for multiple DUIs. To substantiate this perspective, the magistrate outlined some long-standing, comprehensively researched alcohol statistics that underlined some of the negative effects that are linked to abusive and irresponsible drinking.
Although Jesse grasped the fact that she drank in an excessive and hazardous manner, she never believed that she was an alcohol addicted individual. So it was a big bombshell when Jesse started to experience symptoms of withdrawal about four-and-a-half hours after getting locked up in the local jail.
To manage her symptoms of alcohol withdrawal in a harm free manner, Jesse was transferred to a drug and alcohol treatment facility for alcohol detoxification and then returned to the municipal jail. While locked up in jail Jesse got a mental health evaluation for her depression and undertook alcohol counseling but because she received this therapy as something that was mandated for her, she neglected to take ownership of her irresponsible and excessive drinking.
When her time behind bars was over, the magistrate without hesitation told Jesse that she would be under strict scrutiny and would be mandated to take random breathalyzer alcohol tests.
Jessie’s Excessive Drinking Prevents Her From Living in a Mature and Accountable Manner
After hearing how Jesse was unsuccessful in taking ownership of her drinking problem and how she reluctantly followed the treatment policy and procedures while in jail, the magistrate knew that it was only a matter of time before he would be seeing Jesse once again in court about her hazardous and abusive drinking behavior. As the judge thought about Jesse’s situation, he couldn’t help but think about how some people never use their brain and discover how to live in an adult and accountable manner.
