Coping with a Breakup
Dealing with a breakup is no easy task to do. When they first hear about the breakup, most people tend to act a bit crazy for awhile. I know I've had to experience all that myself. I've made phone calls and sent e-mails that I wish I hadn't. This is not how you want to handle being dumped. Don't do things that will just scare your ex away. Instead, trying doing a few of these things to improve your situation.
Forget Revenge — Don't do something that really isn't in line with your best self. Don't write nasty things on his Facebook wall, don't tell lies, and don't look for a rebound relationship to make him jealous. You don't really want to become this kind of person. These sort of immature antics will only make you look bad. Take some time and just don't contact your ex or have anything to do with him at all. This can help you take a more rational view of how things stand. It's a good idea to start questioning yourself what is motivating you to do anything before you take action.
Learn What Happened — Take the lessons you can from your failed relationship. Could it be that there is some part of yourself that you kept to yourself? Maybe you could have been more truthful about your feelings or more emotionally open? You want to make sure that you are not haunted by the same problems in your next relationship whether or not you and your ex get back together.
Put Your Attention Elsewhere — Try not to dwell on your breakup too much right after you hear about it. It is not an easy thing to pull your focus away from the feelings of being dumped. Really though, you shouldn't be spending so much time thinking about . So, get out and spend some quality time with friends having a good time. Or go out and try something new and take up a hobby that interests you. This will help you keep depression at bay while broadening your horizons and improving your self-confidence.
Dealing with being dumped is probably one of the most painful things you will have to experience. Stay positive and resist falling into the negativity of doing petty stunts that will only drive your ex away. At the same time surround yourself with optimistic upbeat people and do things that you are interested in. Take this breakup as a chance to turn over a new leaf and start a better life. This is the best way to see a break up as an opportunity for something better.
