Don't Forget The Groom
For most brides, the wedding is all about me, me, me. And that's perfectly natural. After all, most girls start planning their own wedding from the time they hear the story of Cinderella. It's genetic. So the poor groom often gets left out. If he wants to be involved in the planning, let him! After all, he's the one who had to hock his Harley to buy you that diamond ring. If not, at least he gets to have some fun.
The Bucks Night
The groom is always second to the bride on their wedding day, and most guys realize this. And that is why the groom gets his own special night – the bachelor party. The stereotypical image of the drunken bachelor party full of strippers and half-naked shenanigans has many brides feeling threatened. You may be surprised to know that not all bachelor parties turn into debaucherous nights of alcohol-fueled pranks. And the groom generally does make it to the altar on time. You simply need to trust the man you're marrying, as well as his best man. It's the best man who is planning the bachelor party, and also the best man who is responsible for making sure the groom makes it to the church on time.
However, you can offer suggestions regarding the boy's big night to make sure that your groom makes it to the alter, sober and on time. Suggest that the party be held the weekend prior to the wedding. If they do get carried away, this will give your betrothed and all of his friends a few days to sober up.
You may also consider booking them a hotel room or suite. Although there are obvious risks involved with this setting, it also means that they have a place to crash for the night and no one will be driving drunk. Many hotels offer special accommodations for bachelor parties, so be sure to advise the hotel at the time of making the booking.
Choosing the Tux
Although it is easy to forget, the groom's outfit is just as important as the bride's. Don't forget to start looking for the right tuxedo at the same time that you start looking for your dress. Spring is a beautiful time for the wedding, but keep in mind that this is also prom season. So if your wedding does clash with the busiest time of year for tuxedo rentals, make sure to get in early. So that your man is not stuck with the last powder blue leisure suit left on the rack since 1974, a deposit on the tuxedo should be the first thing on your to do list.
Two People, One Wedding
Now is the best time to learn to compromise. Especially if both you and your groom are fanatical organizers, and neither of you wants to take a back seat to planning your wedding. If both of you are working on separate plans, it will never work. Although you can certainly both be involved, one person will need to ultimately be responsible for ensuring that everything goes according to plan. But that doesn't mean that one person makes all of the decisions. A wedding is the first day of your life together as a couple, and it is important that you both have a say as to how that day will run.
