Effective Communication Skills
You may be sitting reading this, waiting for me talking about how to get more effective communication skills. Instead, I'm going to tell you about the costs to you of not having effective communication. Some of this may apply to you, and if you're one of the fortunate few, none of this will apply to you.
Without good communication skills you're likely to be on a lower salary which will cause you to have frustration and hardship in your life. You're less able to improve your circumstances by getting a a promotion or even a different job.
The car you drive and where you live will also be affected by your financial status. It's interesting to notice that all the good talkers, the great communicators, live in one of those big houses that you wouldn't mind owning.
They weren't born that way. They probably began life in circumstances very similar to yours.
There's a story about multimillionaire motivational speaker, Anthony Robbins. Because he wanted to earn more than the rest of his family, he wanted to be a truck driver when he left school. Interestingly, at that point he wanted to make around 36'000 dollars. Years later, very recently in fact, he received a pay-out of about four hundred million from a share deal with one of his eleven companies. Didn't he do well?
When you don't feel confident about your ability to use effective communication skills, you may be nervous in conversations and possibly seen as weird. This will affect your relationships with your friends, your family, your colleagues, and any others you meet along the way. You may be disappointed because the guy or gal of your dreams might not want to marry you. What sort of qualities and relationships do the people you most admire have?
In conflict situations, instead of defending yourself with your words, you may even make the situation worse by unconsciously verbally attacking the other person. This might mean that you might feel frustrated every time there's any dispute in your life. Wouldn't it be great to know you can be confident in any situation and wipe the smirk off of the wiseguy's face?
The crazy thing is that anybody can have effective communication skills just by applying themselves and taking control of their destiny. Just think how good you'll feel when you make the decision and take control of your life. You'll notice that everything will change, from your material possessions to the quality of your relationships with your friends, family and neighbors.
