How save a marriage after infidelity?
First, you should be honest with yourself and your partner. Determine the reasons why you've been unfaithful which you knew will cause your partner terrible hurt but still, you chose to be unfaithful. What led you to be unfaithful? Perhaps, you admired the other person and you found yourself unable to refuse. That certainly couldn't be the only reason. Or perhaps, that certain woman or man provided something for you that you don't get from your partner.
Also, accepting your mistake to yourself is one thing. Admitting it to your partner is a different story. And it's not that easy. It's just not. But if your marriage is valuable to you, you should be brave and do it once and for all. Expect the shock and frustration of your partner. There's nothing else you could do about this and it's necessarily a part of how to save a marriage, at the same time, it can also be hurtful.
Anger and hurt are usual in situations such as this so don't be surprised if he or she talks harsh words on you. Realize that those are all a part of it and avoid arguing back whenever possible. Remember, you are trying to save your marriage from leading to an end and protecting yourself will only add insult to injury.
Additionally, choosing the appropriate time and place plays a big part in saving a marriage after your infidelity. Before everything else, you and your partner should settle the current situation at length and with privacy. The bedroom is a good choice, but then, think again. You don't want such a special room to be associated with your infidelity that your partner will always remember.
And as for the right time, realize that your explanation will certainly disturb and hurt your partner and there's really no right time for dismaying situations like this. But still you can be aware and sensitive about your partner's mindset. Be sure there's currently no important occasion like pregnancy or an approaching job promotion or something that's an extremely downtime caused by a sickness or a loved one's death. Affairs like those can bring a heavier burden on your partner and further problems will only increase the pressure.
Finally, don't view your fault as an unimportant one because it's not. Perhaps, you and your partner's relationship wil be greatly affected by a lasting impression and he or she may not easily forgive and forget. Infidelity is not just a simple misdeed. It is a severe breach of trust. You have dishonored the trust you have sworn to your spouse and in God's name.
There are many things you should focus on saving a marriage after an act of infidelity. Finally, whether they are willing or not to save their relationship, the decision is still theirs to make and they should accept whatever the outcome would be.
