Just How Bad is Your Spouse?
The decision of whether or not to get divorced is a serious decision. The entire family is affected by the end of a marriage, not just the couple who is divorcing. While no marriage is perfect, some are better than others, that is for sure.
The choice is normally more harder if the person you are considering leaving, is a good person. If the person you are married to has bad addictions, such as being on drugs, then it is easy to make a choice. Additionally, if your mate is abusive or has an immoral character which makes them a criminal, such as a murderer, then it is easier to make this choice. In these situations you should just get a divorce without thinking about it too much.
The most difficult decision is when your spouse is an okay person. It is when you can't really point out too many flaw in your spouse, other than the fact that they really annoy you. Thus, the choice is hardest to make when you think that your partner is a good person. You should reconsider your decision when your only reason for leaving your spouse is that you are being annoyed by them, or that they just don't do it for you anymore.
Living with someone is always difficult, because everyone has their own particularities; there is no such thing as a 'perfect human being'. There are good times and bad times in every marriage. People expect their spouse to entertain them and smell good all the time, to be superhuman. This is unrealistic.
Divorce should be a last resort, only if your marriage and spouse is horrible. You should probably lower your standards and be grateful that there is someone willing to listen to you and sty with you, because you are probably annoying too and you arent going to get much better than what youve got right now. Try to see the good in your spouse instead of all their little annoying habits.
If you get divorced, you might regret it for the rest of your life. Perhaps you won't ever find somebody else and you'll be alone the rest of your life. It's preferable to have a spouse when you're dying, even if they can be irritating. It's better to have something smaller now than something bigger in the future.
Also, if your mate is a good person, you will have to deal with the guilt of hurting their feelings, or more than this, you will have to deal with feeling sorry because nobody else wants to marry you. It's just less of a hassle to stay married, the grass is not always greener in someone else's yard. Occasionally the grass is older and already dry.
