Preparing For A Wedding In The Country
Getting invited to a real country wedding is a great event. They are very happy and noisy events especially if it will take place in one of those huge ranches. This does not mean that the guests are not elegant and fancy. I have seen men and women wearing hats and brown boots that are worth more than my complete tuxedo.
Noon time weddings are the best; they have the beef cooking over huge fires where you can smell them at a distance. The tables have colored tablecloths and flowers are everywhere filling the air with their perfume. The party is in the ranch garden so there is enough room for everyone to sit around and enjoy.
You have to choose the menu, the plates and glass ware, the entrees, the wine and drinks. The chef proposes this which you do not like and you ask for something he believes is not right and so on and so forth. Dresses and tuxedos have to be fitted properly and cleaned in preparation for the great day.
Back in the ranch we have beef and corn on the cob. Mashed potatoes and gravy enough to float a boat and sink a whale. Good all American food and company. Everything has been set and prepared with enough time. The couple has gone shopping to the city and have found a wedding band the bride likes and they have looked through mens wedding bands until they have found one that matches and fits the grooms finger.
Brides maids and their companions have to get dresses and tuxedos. The bride will need her wedding dress which normally takes forever to make and fit to perfection. The groom has to buy his tuxedo; he cannot use a rental for his own wedding. Parents, nephews, children, everybody has to be fitted either for a dress or a tuxedo.
The newlyweds exchange rings and she is very satisfied because she chose the right one in between many wedding bands for men. It is perfect and matches hers like a twin. It is exactly the right size for his huge hand without looking out of place. She is very happy and ready to start the party.
Time is slipping by and you feel you will not finish on time and start to feel desperate and lonely and very tired. When you feel that you cannot handle it anymore, your mom arrives and saves the day. She starts to help and takes some weight of your back. Everything is finally falling into place. Now you know that your wedding will be fantastic.
