Smart Buying Saves You Money.
Budgets can be all consuming to some people. Especially when it comes to redecorating and home renovations. Sometimes a fresh coat of paint can really change the whole look of a room without having to spend a great deal of money. For example our cream colored walls in our house was simply not making the elegant black dining room set we have pop, so we decided to simply paint the walls a soft green. The whole room looks completely brand new now.
I learned how to save money from buying my dining room set, we had been seeking the perfect match for our home. When we came across this table and chair set the store only had the floor models. At the time we could not wait for them to order the table in for us. The damage from customers was certainly fixable and the price seemed well enough to fit into our budget. After fixing the table, you cannot even tell that it had minor damage to it.
It was a simple matter to sand down the furniture and buy matching stain and refinish the table and chairs. Perhaps the hardest part was trying to get the stain out of the table. You may be surprised to discover that many shopping outlets will consider negotiating a sale of display items when they no longer have the stock available. If the materials that make up the furniture seem sturdy enough you may be making a fantastic deal.
My son has recently grown out of the style of his bed and we had been on the look out for a new one. As we were walking through a local store, we had come across a lovely his and hers set of loft beds with desk attached. We immediately spoke with a sales representative. Both the beds were displaying the price for beds straight from the shipping box as both displays had minor damage.
They did not have any other ones in the back, and they checked to see if another store had them. The one store that did have them only had the feminine bed. They did inform me that I could order the bed and wait two weeks for it to come in. I asked whether the store would consider selling the floor models. It did not have any structural damage, so the sales person checked.
With a little negotiating between the manager and I the sales representative sold the bed to me at a discounted price. You may be able to work out a great deal with the staff and get the item you want. Some stores are more than willing to do that when they no longer have the item in stock. It never hurts to ask! A little sweat on your end and the cost of sandpaper and stain and you have furniture as good as new.
The most important part should you get the deal is to ensure that when you are finishing the repair, you should get a stain that matches the original stain so closely that you cannot tell that it has been repaired. Getting the wrong stain will only make more work for you or make the piece look rather awkward. With the money that you save you could get some new bedding for the loft bed, I know I did.
If you are a beginner you may wish to stay within smaller projects until you feel more comfortable branching out to the advanced projects. If you have a great deal of sanding to do it would be wise to wear a face mask to protect yourself from the inhalation of saw dust.
