The Class Reunion Of Old Friends
They looked at their old friends across the table in the casual restaurant. They weren't there primarily to eat and drink. The purpose of this dinner for three old friends was to catch up on how their lives had turned out.
Ten years ago, all three had graduated from high-school together and now they were here for the reunion. They knew there wouldn't be much time for quiet conversation at the party tomorrow night. They were gathered together tonight to talk to each other about old times.
Ted began to reminisce about the football, basketball and baseball games he had helped the school to win. He went on talking about the night he saved the game by shooting a basket just as the buzzer sounded. He had had some success on the football team too, making touchdowns as quarterback.
All the girls had wanted to go out with Tony. He and his date were elected prom king and queen senior year. He always teased Ted about the fact that he dated more cheerleaders even though Ted was the big football hero. Ted wasn't concerned since he had enough girlfriends of his own.
Tim was an easygoing guy who hung out with his friends and enjoyed whatever activity was planned. He wanted to reminisce about those summer days when they all rode their diamondback bikes along the track that led to the swimming pool. After competing with each other for the best exhibition diving of the day, they laughed and talked all the way back home.
Tony told a somewhat alarming story about how Jeana, his ex-wife, had cut up his shirts and ties with a knife set they received as a wedding gift. He said she added insult to injury by using a knife they had received as a wedding present. This set all three of them laughing.
Tim and Ted had divorce stories too, but much less drastic than Tony's. In fact, Tim actually missed his ex-wife. She had been justified in divorcing him since he been involved in an affair with another woman from work. He really regretted losing her.
They hoped to hook-up with some old girlfriends at the big party the following night. Since none of them wore those confining men wedding bands any longer, it was highly likely that would happen. They wondered out loud who might be bald and who might be fat. They guessed who might have married who. Finishing their drinks, they looked at the menu and began to order. Tomorrow night sounded like it might be a lot of fun.
