Using Communication To Build Trust In A Relationship
It's not ever really easy to grow trust in a budding relationship, unless the two of you are capable of sharing the time to build rapport. In addition, developing rapport, and the accompanying trust that results, is a key factor in maintaining a great relationship going for the long term.
Initially, be sensitive about your partner's struggles and their feelings. Help your partner cope with their problems by being an effective listener. The truth is that life isn't a walk in the park for any of us and having someone around that understands that, is a key component of a healthy and trusting relationship.
Remember to be observant of your partner's body language. Do they have their arms folded up in front of them? This indicates that they are closed minded at that moment and not really open to what anyone has to say. Does your partner make eye contact? Not being able to maintain eye contact is a sign of potential trouble.
Do they smile when they see you? If that is missing, it could represent trouble ahead. Negative body language like the two examples listed above indicates that you may not have come far enough along in your relationship to develop the long term trust you need.
Establishing trust begins with the establishment of a firm line for communications. Now, that doesn't excuse you for just nodding your head in agreement all the time when they are trying to tell you something. I mean definitely listen to each other and think about what the other person is saying and what they are trying to achieve with their words. For example, ladies like to talk for entertainment. Men talk to make a point or convey information. It is a fact that men and women have different reasons for saying the things they do.
